State Bar of Arizona Recognized for Excellence in Promoting Access to Justice
Phoenix, AZ – The State Bar of Arizona is proud to announce it has been awarded the Arizona Supreme Court’s 2024 Judicial Branch Strategic Agenda Award in the Promoting Access to Justice category for its exemplary Free Legal Clinics and Phone Banks initiative. This prestigious recognition highlights the commitment of the State Bar to ensuring that all Arizonans have access to vital legal resources.
The State Bar’s Public Service Center’s Free Legal Clinics and Phone Banks have provided invaluable support to individuals who may not otherwise have access to legal assistance. By connecting 2,160 community members with volunteer attorneys in 2023, the Public Service Center has played a crucial role in addressing legal issues ranging from family law to housing rights.
The Bar’s monthly Free Legal Clinics provide consumers one-on-one time with an attorney to discuss a range of legal topics or prepare essential estate planning documents. Additionally, our monthly live phone banks connect consumers statewide with an attorney to address various legal topics. None of this extraordinary work would be possible without our community partners including ABC15 Arizona, which broadcasts the monthly phone banks.
“This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, staff and partners who are committed to making legal assistance accessible in Arizona. The Bar believes everyone deserves access to justice, and we are proud to serve our community,” said Ted Schmidt, President of the State Bar of Arizona Board of Governors.
